Grit (prize catagories)

We want people to ride their bikes AND enjoy doing it, so we'll be giving prizes away every month! These items are graciously donated by our supporting sponsors, and by challenging yourself to ride, these prizes practically throw themselves at you. Here are the prize categories.

Le Maillot Jaune

We couldn't have a cycling competition without including the most famous cycling trophy of them all: Le Maillot Jaune. The overall champion is the rider that places in the highest percentiles, as defined by the Killgore equation, in all three categories; mileage, commute trips, and foul weather days.

Le Domestique

This will reward that rider that logs the most miles – PERIOD. This workhorse eats miles for breakfast . . . and dinner.

Rouleur

Ride everyday? It's only a few miles, but day after day you stick with it. This prize goes to the stalwart rider that makes the most commute trips regardless of distance.

Le Grimpeur

Grit and grime, wind and rain, heat and hills; in French a grimpeur is an excellent climber, a stubborn character. When other riders tire and quit, the grimpeur draws energy reserves from a nameless, primeval source, far beyond the reach of others, and steadily carries on. No matter the weather, this rider has the most foul weather days commuted.

Premes

If the grimpeur is a little too hardcore, take heart! Throughout the summer you’ll also compete with YOU. When you register, RhR calculates your potential commute miles for the entire 3-month event should you commute to and from work every day. Prizes are awarded at three levels; Cro-Moly, Aluminum, and Carbon Fiber.

• Cro-Moly, a rider reaches 20% of their total potential mileage
• Aluminum, a rider reaches 60% of their total potential mileage
• Carbon Fiber, a rider reaches 90% of their potential mileage.

Each month GOAB hosts a party for all our commuters. At these events riders can mingle with other crazies like themselves while we distribute the prizes. If your company is unable to attend, we will ship these items once a month to be distributed by your Bike Czar.

Through generous sponsorships, we have wrangled an amazing array of quality prizes. Apparel from Outdoor Research, racks and accessories from Yakima, wilderness first aid courses from Remote Medical International, and how about a Raleigh bike?! Plus, Challenge Thyself and receive sweet shwag.
